VAF/IR-BMD-MFT

Optical Anti-Aliasing + Infrared Filtration for Blackmagic MFT Cameras

The VAF/IR-BMD-MFT represented an evolution of Mosaic Engineering's earlier VAF-BMC-MFT filter, combining optical anti-aliasing performance with integrated infrared filtration and an improved mechanical design.

Optical Anti-Aliasing IR Filtration MFT Camera Systems

Product Overview

Designed for Blackmagic MFT Cameras

The VAF/IR-BMD-MFT incorporated highly effective infrared filtration as an integral part of the optical design while retaining the optical low-pass / anti-aliasing characteristics of Mosaic's earlier Blackmagic filter.

The revised mechanical design was intended to simplify installation and extend compatibility across several Blackmagic Design cameras using the Micro Four Thirds mount.

Historical Compatibility

Supported Camera Systems

Mosaic's original documentation identified the VAF/IR-BMD-MFT for use with the following Blackmagic camera systems.

01

Micro Cinema Camera

Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera with MFT lens mount.

02

Pocket Cinema Camera

Original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera platform.

03

Cinema Camera 2.5K

Blackmagic 2.5K Cinema Camera equipped with the MFT mount.

04

Studio Camera HD

Blackmagic Studio Camera HD system.

Historical compatibility note Mosaic's original product documentation stated that the filter was compatible with these cameras when used in combination with Metabones Speed Booster systems. Compatibility should be verified for any equipment currently in service.

Installation Kit

Designed for Field Installation

The original filter kit was supplied with the filter, precisely machined shims, and the tools required to perform the installation.

The shim system was designed to compensate for the back-focus shift introduced by the optical filter so that lenses could continue to focus normally after installation.

Proper shimming was particularly important for maintaining normal focus behavior and zoom-lens focus tracking.
